Developmental Intern - Project & Business Development

Location: White Plains, NY, US

This select 12-week paid internship program begins June 2019 and ends August 2019.


The intern will provide assistance with work undertaken for the Large Scale Renewable program and Energy Storage Initiatives.  The work will be to assist the Business Development ("BD") Manager and includes tasks based on coordination with meetings, materials and information, document compiling and load profile analysis as well as various other data collection activities.   

There are two potential projects in which the intern would be working on.  If awarded, Business Development would be managing the services proposed in response to an RFP to help SUNY contract Large Scale Renewable projects in order to meet their renewable goals.  These services range from economic analysis, standard form PPA drafting, load analysis, RFP issuance, management and evaluation.  The intern would work with the BD manager in overseeing the contract and coordination of the activities.  

The second project would be to provide support to the BD manager for energy storage initiatives to support the Governor's 1500MW energy storage goals.  This includes work associated with business case development as well as development of energy storage ideas for the state of NY.  Additional work would include data analysis and policy and market research.

Education, Experience and Certifications


Technical Competencies:

  • Ability to perform basic data analysis with regards to load profile and energy usage analysis through Microsoft Excel.  
  • Ability to develop and prepare presentation materials with Power Point.  
  • Interest in clean energy technologies (ie: hydro, solar, wind), energy storage technologies, New York State Energy policy and markets. 


Behavioral Competencies:

  • Exhibits good communication skills both written and verbal.  
  • Ability to problem solve and multi-task.
  • Organized and able to meet deadlines.  
  • Works well both independently as well as with a team. 


Education Background:

  • Preferred: Junior or Senior college or graduate school.  Field: Engineering
