Digital Communications Specialist II


White Plains, US


Creates, supports and implements internal and external digital communications strategies to advance the Authority’s work and tell the story of how we are achieving our 10-year strategy, VISION2030.  This role will support internal and external communication goals by implementing a range of work via our digital platforms, including NYPA’s internet, intranet and social media programs. Ensures that all communications support the objectives of the Authority’s programs and reach targeted audiences. Creativity and strong writing skills are necessary. #LI-AE1


  • Support the strategic communication goals of the organization via digital channels.
  • Oversee assigned projects from inception to successful completion under guidance from Corporate Communications leadership.
  • Write and/or edit content for assigned projects. Support all edit requests and new content creation on and the employee intranet, ‘Powernet’.
  • Act as a support and back-up to social media peers.
  • Support communication strategies designed to engage employees and the public; create content that builds trust and reinforces mission, vision and values.
  • Partner with peers in Employee Communications, Media Relations, Graphics, Videography, and Photography to ensure accurate and timely completion of integrated projects. Help ensure a holistic and integrated communication approach is being utilized.
  • Foster positive and collaborative working relationships between Corporate Communications peers and internal clients requesting work.
  • Identify improvements in the development and distribution of all digital, print and audiovisual communication.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Skilled and adept in Sitecore (’s CMS platform) 
  • Knowledgeable and capable of creation and updates of material on SharePoint, the platform for the NYPA intranet
  • Proficient in social media management platforms, tools, and copywriting for social.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to offer creative, effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Extremely flexible, focused on providing best outcomes based on client needs and utilizing communications best practices to be successful.
  • Ability to meet competing deadlines and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Team player who puts a high premium on collaboration, contributing to a positive working environment and forging strong relationships.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft office programs including Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook. 

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Communications, marketing or digital media related disciplines preferred. 
  • Minimum six years corporate communications, marketing, or agency experience, with examples of incremental increase in responsibility.
  • Excellent computer skills: web design and maintenance experience are critical.
