Payroll Representative

Location: White Plains, NY, US

Summary

The Payroll Representative maintains employee files, processes changes to employee master records in ADP, monitors and reviews time entry in the Time & Attendance system, calculates special payments, reconciles payroll registers, creates and maintains Access queries, process 3rd party payments, distributes various reports and checks to both employees and sites.

Responsibilities
  • Process entries for multiple payrolls including time entry and master data, deduction changes, direct deposit entries, W4 changes, paid time off balance adjustments.
  • Monitor the time & attendance system to ensure compliance with NYPA policy by checking and auditing timekeeping records.
  • Reconcile payroll registers against original source data verifying all paychecks are processed accurately.
  • Verify the accuracy of exports from payroll system for multiple payrolls to ensure in-house database reports have accurate data.
  • Assist the Payroll Analyst in updating in-house databases with information from payroll system
  • Remit payments to 3rd party vendors.
  • Distribute paychecks to Headquarters and all NYPA locations.
  • Distribute in-house reports to managers, Finance, Human Resources and Benefits detailing employee earnings, deductions, paid time off balances, etc.
  • Maintain employee payroll files, including archiving.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Good math/accounting aptitude is required.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Good organizational skills and a detailed oriented approach is required.
  • Ability to work on projects with little supervision.
  • Effective verbal and written skills required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Some knowledge of current payroll compliance procedures and laws is required.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Access is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of ADP is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of SAP is preferred.
Education, Experience and Certifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 1 year of experience in a business setting is required.
  • Minimum of 1year of computerized payroll processing experience is preferred.
  • Associate’s Degree in a business relevant field or a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Management, or Finance is preferred
Physical Requirements

  Limited travel (about 10%) required primarily to our generating facilities.
