Assistant Storekeeper

Summary
The Assistant Storekeeper position reports directly to the Site Manager within the Strategic Supply Management (SSM) department. The individual in this position will attend the warehouse needs for the South East New York (SENY) region. The Assistant Storekeeper will be responsible for the warehouse assets, tagging, receiving, general housekeeping, and issuing of goods amongst other tasks. The individual will work closely with stakeholders across the region to be able to support everyday needs.
Responsibilities
- Loading/unloading trucks and pallets;
- Inspection, comparison and documentation of incoming and outgoing material deliveries and shipments;
- Performing written tagging and computer data entry of warehouse stores information;
- Issuing materials, stocking shelves and replacing spare parts in designated locations;
- Delivering warehouse stores as required and performing inventory functions;
- General housekeeping.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- The position requires pulling, pushing, lifting and/or carrying physical objects such as packages and equipment.
- The position involves walking, standing, climbing, reaching and bending for extended periods.
- Ability to recognize parts and materials based on standard nomenclature and forklift certification/experience.
- Must be in good physical condition and able to lift heavy material, boxes and equipment (50 lbs) and operate fork trucks and the like, i.e., turret & 4D and work overtime.
- Must possess good reading comprehension and verbal communication skills, a general aptitude towards warehousing, computer (SAP) literacy and successful completion of appropriate written examination.
- Must have a valid NYS Driver License

Required Experience:
2 years warehousing experience required (5 years’ experience preferred).
