Developmental Intern - Human Resources

Location: BlenhmGilboa, NY, US

***This select 12-week paid internship program begins June 2019 and ends August 2019, But may be begin earlier depending on the student's availability.***

Summary

The HR Intern will be responsible for providing support in the operations of the Facility HR & Labor Relations department.

 

Responsibilities will include:

• Assist with scanning all HR and Labor files (including personnel files) into the Content Server.
• Assist with the BG HR Initiative to automate and streamline HR processes.
• Assist with processing and tracking FMLA, PFL, and IBEW leave of absences.
• Assist with recruiting, pre-employment testing, background screenings, interviews, pre-employment paperwork, and on-boarding.
• Provide general office support to the department as directed, assist with various employee file maintenance and other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities the intern will walk away with after this internship

Knowledge:
Working with in the HR Generalist field, working in a union environment, recruitment, and records management.
 
Skills:
Document management, communication, creative thinking, process improvement, proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, problem solving, time management, and interpersonal skills.
 
Abilities:
Pursue a career in HR or Labor Relations. 

Education, Experience and Certifications

Technical Competencies: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

 

Behavioral Competencies: Communication, critical thinking, time management, organized, interpersonal, and responsible.

 

Education Background: Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Labor Relations, Psychology or related field.     (Students in their Junior/Senior year of college are preferred.)
