The GIS & Real Estate intern will help support the Real Estate department at the Blenheim-Gilboa Power Project. 

The intern will be focused on updating NYPA Geographical Information Systems (GIS) data layers including a creation of a GIS-based application; to input and normalize data for the creation of custom maps.  

The Intern may also be tasked with supporting the Real Estate division by assisting in a wide variety of day-to-day tasks.  These tasks include preparing and processing Permits, document review, and general filing. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge of various aspects of GIS and the applications of this knowledge to business needs of an Electric Utility company.
  • Understanding and experience in enterprise GIS data gathering, development and maintenance as it relates to a NYS-wide asset
  • Ability to create, edit, and update GIS data
  • Ability to design and prepare custom applications and exhibits for internal customers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task with competing priorities
  • Collaborative and team orientated
  • Customer-focused especially when dealing with vendors and internal clients
Education, Experience and Certifications

Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program with a focus in Real Estate, Geographic Information Systems, ROW Agent, Surveying, Paralegal or a related field.
