Developmental Intern - Transmission

Responsibilities

The Transmission intern will help support the Transmission/Line Maintenance department at the Blenheim-Gilboa Power Project in Gilboa, NY. 

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Support of NYPA's TLEM initiative by reviewing submissions and supporting the Ops-Transmission goals.
  • Update transmission tower assemblies and work in Maximo to support the Transmission Emergency Response Plan (TERP) and emergency spare parts.
  • Work with the NYPA databases and update information by reviewing drawings and design documents.
  • Work with Transmission Engineer/Planner, and Supervisor achieve department goals in Capital and O&M projects.
  • Perform/assist in construction/maintenance inspections and other field work.
  • Participate in routine meetings including weekly planning and monthly staff/budget meetings.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task with competing priorities
  • Collaborative and team orientated
  • Customer-focused especially when dealing with vendors and internal clients
  • Asset managment, MAXIMO software experience desired. 
     
Education, Experience and Certifications

Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program with a focus in Civil Engineering or a related field.
