Summer Intern - Real Estate

Location: Gilboa, NY, US

This select 12-week paid internship program begins June 2019 and ends August 2019.

Summary

The Real Estate intern will help support the Real Estate department at the Blenheim-Gilboa Power Project. 

The intern will be focused on updating NYPA Geographical Information Systems (GIS) data layers including a creation of a GIS-based application; to input and normalize data for the creation of custom maps.  

The Intern may also be tasked with supporting the Real Estate division by assisting in a wide variety of day-to-day tasks.  These tasks include preparing and processing Permits, document review, and general filing. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge: Demonstrate technical knowledge of various aspects of GIS and the applications of this knowledge to business needs of an Electric Utility company.  Better understanding of NYPA's facilities and the procedures for the acquisition and disposal of Real Property.

 

Skills: Improved understanding and experience in enterprise GIS data gathering, development and maintenance as it relates to a NYS-wide asset.  

 

Abilities: Ability to create, edit, and update GIS data.  Ability to design and prepare custom applications and exhibits for internal customers.  

Education, Experience and Certifications

Enrolled in a Real Estate, GIS, ROW Agent, Surveying, Paralegal or related program.  Junior year completed preferred.
