Developmental Intern - Plant Safety
Location: Lewiston, NY, US
This select 12-week paid Internship program begins June 2019 and ends August 2019.
Summary
To assist with the closeout of any audit findings - NYS Fire Marshall, Injury Investigations, Near Misses, AEGIS Insurance Inspections, Site Walkdowns.
In addition, the intern would be responsible for ordering and having new signage installed based on the findings of the latest Noise Survey report and possibly the enhancement of all PPE signage in the Robert Moses Power
House.The impact the intern would have by completing these projects would minimize the overall risk to employees and NYPA.

Skills:
Interpersonal skills - public speaking, oral communication, written communication
Ability to recognize hazards and how to implement appropriate corrective measures
Knowledge:
OSHA/PESH regulations
Industrial Hygiene experience, specifically noise
Abilities:
Effective communication
Ability to navigate in a union environment
Education, Experience and Certifications
Technical:
Computer skills - Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel a plus
Knowledge of OSHA regulations
Behavioral:
Strong oral and written skills
Ability to work well with others - management and craft employees
Education:
Health and Safety preferred; Environmental Health & Safety
Third or Fourth year
