Developmental Intern - Engineering Energy Control Center

Location: Marcy, NY, US

This select 12-week paid Internship program begins June 2019 and ends August 2019.

Summary

Modify existing and/or develop new one-line displays on Energy Control Center (ECC) Energy Management System (EMS).  This will provide ECC System Operations expanded situational awareness of the real-time system.
Assist ECC Engineers in Implementing Advanced Applications database modeling improvements on the development system and enhance the Security Analysis results for System Operations. Review other entity ratings and modify Network Applications database as needed.
Design GA-10 software map board displays for the EECC Analog Telemetry System and communicate with System Operations to insure design meets their operational needs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities the intern will walk away with after this internship

 The Intern will develop computer skills including power system modeling while utilizing the ECC EMS development system. He or she will also gain design experience using software that requires an individual to think about challenges related to situational awareness and future maintenance requirements.

The Intern will learn about NYPA System Operations and Utility Industry.

The Intern will develop an understanding how to conduct themselves in a professional environment and learn how to address real-time issues as they arise.

Education, Experience and Certifications

 Pursuing a degree in  Electrical Engineering with Power concentration preferred in Junior year or higher. 

Computer skill set including Internet and Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
Excellent oral, written interpersonal communication skills required.
AutoCAD or equivalent design experience.
