Summary
Provides efficient and cost-effective office support operations to the NYPA enterprise. Ensures NYPA information assets are protected, accessible and supports business needs.
Accountable for all owned trucks and vehicles. Initiates vehicle purchases and scheduling vehicle assignments. Plans and implements maintenance programs to ensure all vehicles are in good working condition.
Responsibilities
- Manage the daily activities of NYPA's fleet operations ensuring tasks are completed efficiently
- Plan, coordinate, supervise and direct work activities of front-line bargaining unit employees and contingent workers in Fleet Operations at various NY Power Authority providing guidance and approvals.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and providing constructive feedback.
- Execute the vehicle procurement process, including specification development, purchasing, and inventory management.
- Collaborate with the Strategic Supply Management (SSM) to maintain and manage relationships with vendors.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across all departments to understand and meet their fleet-related needs.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings within fleet operations.
- Regularly report fleet performance, costs, and operational issues to upper management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge and experience with fleet management principles, operations and preventive maintenance practices.
- Knowledge and experience with regulatory requirements involving fleet practices.
- Knowledge and experience with fleet procurement practices, including specification writing and bidding processes
- Knowledge and experience with fleet inventory management and planning.
- Strong analytic skills and ability to manage budget following process and cost control objectives.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with a variety of individuals at all levels in the organization.
- Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects within varying deadlines.
- Ability to operate computer, proficient in office productivity software such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentation and email and efficiently produce spreadsheets and reports and have the ability to learn applicable software programs.
- Ability to learn and operate Maximo fleet software program
Education, Experience and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience in time management, conflict resolution and negotiation required.
Physical Requirements
- Approximately 30% travel primarily within NY State is required.
- Must be able to travel to all NYPA upstate sites including White Plains and NYC locations on a frequent basis.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, and climb on a regular basis in order to inspect completed work.

The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates’ relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
