Regional Real Estate Administrator

Summary

We are seeking a proactive Regional Real Estate Administrator for the Central NY region, based out of the Clark Energy Center in Marcy, NY, to foster and maintain positive relationships with landowners in their assigned region. This role involves leading all permitting processes associated with NYPA fee and easement areas, supporting new project initiatives, and serving as the Real Estate liaison to both internal and external stakeholders, including utility companies and municipal zoning and planning departments. The ideal candidate will possess strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills, the ability to manage Real Estate activities independently, and experience in appraisal review, surveys, GIS, contract negotiation, and Eminent Domain procedures. Effective communication and the ability to represent NYPA courteously and persuasively are essential for success in this position. #LI-CJ1

Responsibilities

  • Foster and maintain positive landowner relationships in assigned region, including resolution of landowner complaints
  • Lead all permitting processes associated with NYPA fee and easement areas
  • Support all new project initiatives
  • Serve as Real Estate liaison and administrator to internal stakeholders, external stakeholders, including utility companies, municipal zoning and planning departments
  • Generate communications to landowners and stakeholders as they pertain to vegetation management or other transmission activities
  • Represent Real Estate department at all appropriate meetings in and around assigned location

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to manage Real Estate activities independently, and to exercise good judgment
  • Ability to represent NYPA courteously and effectively with landowners and other constituent groups
  • Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively
  • Ability to manage all responsibilities independently, whether negotiating for real property rights, protecting rights previously acquired, coordinating activities associated with maintaining transmission lines, or exercising rights to operate, maintain, repair, and rebuild power projects, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience in appraisal review and techniques, surveys and GIS, contract and document negotiation, title review and Eminent Domain procedures

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Business, Real Estate Administration, or a related field with minimum 6 years of experience preferred within a real estate-related setting such as a law office, survey firm or title company

OR

  • Associate’s degree in Surveying, Business, Real Estate Administration, or a related field with minimum 8 years of experience preferred within a real estate-related setting such as a law office, survey firm or title company

OR

  • High School Diploma with minimum 10 years of experience preferred within a real estate-related setting such as a law office, survey firm or title company

 

  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) preferred
  • Experience in Utility industry preferred
  • Experience with reviewing title reports, surveys, and title reports understanding of deeds, easements and other real estate documents strongly preferred
  • Experience in resolving real property claims and processing necessary paperwork strongly preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Travel up to 75%, including some periodic overnight travel

The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The estimated salary range for this position is: $102,000-$127,000. The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates’ relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
