- Learning about NYPA’s commitment to New York State citizens and the communities where our generation facilities are hosted
- Gaining a foundation on the energy regulations that govern our industry
Responsibilities
- Providing technical support for routine O&M activities including troubleshooting, drawing preparation, procurement of materials, outage requests, implementation activities, and engineering/test data review.
- Assisting in the review of current maintenance practices for suitability and economic reasonableness. Preparing recommendations for improvement consistent with current technology and proactive industry, and government standards.
- Aid and support in reviewing existing power apparatus, control systems, mechanical systems, civil infrastructure and other ancillary systems for performance and, or maintenance costs, and prepare recommendations for repair or replacement. Includes supporting the preparation of all budget justification forms.
- Support the preparation of engineering reports such as equipment failure, routine inspection reports or incident reports etc. As directed.
- Review of non-complex engineering design packages including preliminary design criteria and specifications.
- Provide technical support for the implementation of non complex equipment modifications or design changes and commissioning of major O&M and capital improvement projects.
- Provide contractor oversight where necessary in the troubleshooting and or repair of equipment.
- Performing other duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task with competing priorities
- Collaborative and team orientated
- Customer-focused especially when dealing with vendors and internal clients
Education, Experience and Certifications
Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program
The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The hourly rate for this position is based on the level of education at the time the intern program begins:
