• Exploring how hydropower, energy efficiency, electric vehicles and more exciting initiatives are changing the power industry
• Seeing firsthand what it’s like to work for New York State, including exposure to labor unions and collective bargaining agreements
• Learning about NYPA’s commitment to New York State citizens and the communities where our generation facilities are hosted
• Visiting the Blenheim-Gilboa power project to see up close how our power is made and how important pumped storage is to reliable electricity in New York
• Gaining a foundation on the energy regulations that govern our industry

The Operations Technology group at STL will have the requested intern work on many different projects. The primary role for our requested intern will be Network configurations along with drawing and compliance documentation updates across our remote substations and also including the main campus. We will be upgrading our network infrastructure throughout 2019 at our remote sub stations. We will be also doing various other projects such as server migrations from physical to virtual, RTU upgrades to new RTAC, Scrolling monitors, Fiber upgrades, PC upgrades, etc... These upgrades are vital to our system operations and reliability. We are looking for someone with Cisco network configuration knowledge and abilities. Having an understanding on converting Physical servers to Virtual would be a plus. We are looking for a team player. Being to work on time is a must This group is willing to help develop the intem that is chosen In many different ways.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • The skills the intern will walk away with will be developing network configurations, producing Visio drawings, and RTAC configurations.
  • The knowledge gained will be, how our process work, CIP compliance, how NYPA maintains layered security on ail assets and many more.
  • The ability to work with others and understand how we maintain systems in conjunction with other groups (site/corporate). Team work and coliaboration across many platforms.
Education, Experience and Certifications

Computer systems engineering field, computer science/cyber security, or related field in IT preferred.
