Summary

Under general supervision, remove, test, install, repair, calibrate and maintain all but the most complicated types of electronic, electrical and mechanical equipment, such as meters, demand devices, recorders, relays, telemetering devices, supervisory and automatic control devices, radio equipment and photoelectric controls.

Responsibilities

  • Make regularly scheduled tests on revenue metering equipment.
  • Investigate radio and television interference complaints.
  • Develop oscillograph records.
  • Make reports and tabulate data for maintenance records.
  • Work with and assist Technicians of higher grade.
  • Work on telemetering devices and supervisory and automatic control devices ... does not include independently checking out the telemetering, supervisory or automatic control systems of which the devices are a part.
  • Continue to maintain active interest in this type of work, and through readings and study, shoud keep abreast of progress in electrical technology related to the work. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledgeable in progress in electrical technology, related to work at NYPA.

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • 2 years electrical technician education at college level, or equivalent.
  • 2 years experience as Technician B, or equivalent experience.

Hourly rates for union-represented employees are collectively bargained by the New York Power Authority and IBEW. The negotiated pay rate for this position is $46.46 per hour.
