Summary

As an Analyst on our Renewables team, you’ll help explore and evaluate new renewable energy and energy storage opportunities that support New York’s ambitious climate and clean‑energy goals. In this role, you’ll dig into data, assist with planning studies, help build financial and cost models, and support research that shapes our future projects. You’ll work closely with teams across NYPA, engineering, legal, finance, environmental health & safety, and real estate, to gather information, develop project materials, and help maintain regulatory compliance as projects move forward.

You’ll play a part in preparing presentations for senior leaders, tracking project progress, supporting the development of business cases for new ideas, supporting NYPA Renewables staff in developing necessary packages for submission, approval and procurement of renewable energy and energy storage projects across a wide range of topics, including but not limited to interconnection, permitting, procurement, external and internal stakeholder engagement, engineering analysis and document review and financial modeling. Along the way, you’ll gain exposure to NYISO market fundamentals, renewable‑energy policies, statewide interconnection processes across all utility territories, and energy‑storage innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Support the coordination and analysis of new opportunities including development of planning studies, siting, and project financials/estimates.
  • Support Origination team with business cases for new opportunities including the commercial model, alignment with policy, and identification of key risks.
  • Provide support for presentations for senior management proposing business opportunities and providing updates on projects in progress.
  • Support Origination team in negotiations on new opportunities.
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary project teams to perform due diligence and/or develop new business opportunities.
  • Prepare a variety of reports and research on projects, trends, policies, and stakeholder activities. 
  • Support renewable energy generation and storage planning and cost modeling studies to inform business opportunities.

  • Proficient written, oral, and research skills
  • Organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues and external organizations from various disciplines and cultural backgrounds.
  • Familiarity of the NYISO market and the broader energy industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
     

Education, Experience and Certifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in economics, finance, climate, engineering, or related field is required
  • Prior internship experience preferred.
  • Experience with clean energy technology and transmission preferred
     

Physical Requirements

  • Up to approximately 20% travel within NY State.
  • Valid government issued ID required
  • Ability to attend meetings/events outside of normal business hours.
     

The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The estimated salary range for this position is: $73,000 - $91,000. The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates’ relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
