Associate BPAC Analyst

Summary

Provides comprehensive services that support NYPA’s underlying mission of delivering clean, reliable power to its customers.  This includes supporting technical analysis, compliance, and billing and settlement activities. Provides optimal business power allocation recommendations. 

Responsible for the administration of NYPA’s portfolio of power programs for economic development. The group manages the entire customer allocation process once an application is submitted for NYPA economic development power.  This includes application review, allocation recommendation/approval, customer’s utilizing the power through enrollments with the various NYS Investor-Owned Utilities and lastly, the allocation extension process.  In addition, the BPAC (Business Power Allocation & Compliance) group manages the compliance process enforcing the contractual commitments (jobs, capital investments, etc.) that the customer agreed to in their power contract. #LI-VB1

Responsibilities

  • Utilizing CRM, provide timely information to business unit leadership for decision making as well as satisfying various internal and external requests for NYPA’s Economic Development Power programs.
  • As part of a team, process the allocation of power for the Authority’s various business power programs to expedite the approval of allocations to qualified businesses, and maintain accurate, efficient, and compliant program processes.
  • Assist with screening of applicants, reviewing and summarizing applications, conducting customer site visits, and performing detailed rate savings analysis.
  • Identify problems and examine alternative solutions, offering creative alternatives to manager for final decision.
  • Assist in monitoring pending allocation maintenance.
  • Support team by scheduling meetings and enabling collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in maintaining proper program procedures.
     

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to perform basic quantitative and qualitative analyses using Excel and other tools. 
  • Identify problems affecting their own work & can make recommendations.
  • Entry-level industry knowledge.
  • Understands NYPA's market and mission.
  • Ability to prepare written analytical reports and make clear and concise presentations (written/oral).
  • Self-starter and possess the ability to work independently, organize own work daily and set priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across disciplines and with other groups.
  • Demonstrated experience using numbers quickly with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Good oral and written communication and proof-reading skills.
  • Basic proficiency in Word, Excel, Power Point, Access and have the ability to learn the CRM system.
  • Ability to exercise discretion when exposed to highly confidential information.
  • Ability to manage a fast pace working environment.
  • Must be detail and multi-task oriented
  • Good time management skills.
  • Ability to cross reference customer data from different reports for cohesiveness.
  • Ability to concisely interpret and communicate results of analyses.

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelors’ degree in Business Mgmt., Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related discipline is required.
  • Related experience in the utility industry. Economic Development and/or Data Analytics is preferred 
     

Physical Requirements

Up to 25% travel primarily within NY State is required.

The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates’ relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
