Developmental Intern - Internal Audit

The Summer Developmental Intern program is ideal for a college or graduate level student interested in …


  • Exploring how hydropower, energy efficiency, electric vehicles and more exciting initiatives are changing the power industry
  • Seeing firsthand what it’s like to work for New York State, including exposure to labor unions and collective bargaining agreements
  • Learning about NYPA’s commitment to New York State citizens and the communities where our generation facilities are hosted
  • Visiting the Blenheim-Gilboa power project to see up close how our power is made and how important pumped storage is to reliable electricity in New York
  • Gaining a foundation on the energy regulations that govern our industry

The Internal Audit intern will participate in the following Internal Audit activities for audits to be assigned (operational, financial strategic, and/or legal & regulatory):  

1) audit entrance and exit conferences

2) developing narratives and flow charts for audit areas in scope

3) identifying key risks and evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of mitigating controls

4) performing substantive detail testing, analytical procedures and other audit procedures to test controls

5) documenting work performed to support audit conclusions

6) assist in the preparation of audit reports

Education, Experience and Certifications

Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program

Education Background:

  • Junior or Senior in Accounting, Finance or other relevant business related field preferred
  • Junior or Senior in Management Information Systems, Computer Science preferred
