Developmental Intern - Technical Writer/Analyst

This select 12-week paid internship program begins June 2020 and ends August 2020.

The Summer Developmental Intern program is ideal for a college or graduate level student interested in …

 

  • Exploring how hydropower, energy efficiency, electric vehicles and more exciting initiatives are changing the power industry
  • Seeing firsthand what it’s like to work for New York State, including exposure to labor unions and collective bargaining agreements
  • Learning about NYPA’s commitment to New York State citizens and the communities where our generation facilities are hosted
  • Visiting the Blenheim-Gilboa power project to see up close how our power is made and how important pumped storage is to reliable electricity in New York
  • Gaining a foundation on the energy regulations that govern our industry

Responsibilities

This intern will be assisting the Information Technology Architecture & Engineering team in various ways, including but not limited to:

  • Working with senior technical personnel and assisting them with crafting document in an interative process for internal processes and changes
  • Conduct research various topics and provide a summary of informantion, and how it could impact NYPA and our strategic intiatives.
  • Will do some basic coding (coding experience preferred, not required)
  • Will create and edit of powerpoint presentations for the team on an as needed basis
  • Will be trained on and work in our internal portfolio managements systems, and will need to gather input from multiple sources to create a dashboard or powerpoint for visualization
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

•Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task with competing priorities
•Collaborative and team orientated
•Customer-focused especially when dealing with vendors and internal clients

Education, Experience and Certifications

Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.

Some experience with Tableau or Python is preferred, not required.

Coding experience is preferred, not required.
