Digital HR Specialist

Summary

The HRIS Specialist supports NYPA’s Human Resources technology initiatives by maintaining, optimizing, and troubleshooting HR systems. This role is responsible for ensuring data integrity, improving system processes, and delivering accurate reporting and analytics to key stakeholders. The HRIS Specialist partners closely with HR, IT, and business leaders to evaluate system needs, implement enhancements, and provide user support and training.

 

An ideal candidates will have strong analytical skills, an understanding of HR processes, and experience working with core HRIS platforms. Preferred qualifications include hands-on experience with Workday, particularly in areas such as HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Reporting, and business process configuration. This position plays a critical role in enabling efficient HR operations and supporting data driven decision-making across the organization

Responsibilities

  • Monitor information needs and modify existing systems to meet changing requirements.
  • Configure and optimize systems and solutions to support department processes.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations on protecting data.
  • Maintain the organization structure for the system which supports the function of all the modules
  • Utilize technical knowledge of the System to work with the IT staff to maintain and upgrade the system.
  • Ensure data are maintained in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Liaison between all of the sites and headquarters.
  • Provide help and support for system functions.
  • Document processes, configurations, and procedures.
  • Train personnel on system procedures and reporting
  • Provide analysis and reports in response to specific requests on ad hoc and periodic basis 
  • Generate monthly retrieval of summary reports, changes, and trends for use by management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of organization structures.
  • Strong knowledge of the report generation.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Develop and produce data reports, exports and charts for analysis.
  • Ability to work comfortably with all levels and all areas of the organization.
  • Ability to handle competing tasks while remaining organized is required
  • Ability to observe confidentiality.

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.  
  • 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Limited travel (up to 10%) required primarily to our generating facilities.  
  • Overnight travel to the various NYPA locations within New York State.

The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The estimated salary range for this position is:  $87,000 - $112,000. The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates’ relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
