Summary
The IT Asset Manager reports to the Sr Digital Director, Resiliency & Operations Center under the VP Digital Services Delivery. The role is responsible for leading ITAM (IT Asset Management) and managing inventory control processes and Configuration Management Database (CMDB) management.
This position is responsible for developing and managing strong strategic relationships with internal senior leaders in Audit, Technical Compliance, Legal, Information Technology, and Operations, along with a very wide expanse of key relationships across NYPA to ensure strong oversight of all inventory and software/ hardware asset management processes and procedures. The role is critical to provide continual knowledge and tracking of compliance with hardware inventory control and software licensing processes, and is integral to risk management.
The IT Asset Manager is meticulous, well organized, driven, problem solver, a quick study, proficient in the mechanics of material control, and a customer advocate who buys into the premise that IT Asset Management (ITAM) and inventory management are at the heart of IT operations.
The Manager must demonstrate solid asset management, leadership, relationship management, and collaboration competencies. This role monitors, reports and ensures tracking of all Information Technology assets, on and off prem including software and hardware renewals. A “hands-on” leader possessing strategic skills to advance the department as well as tactical awareness to ensure daily operations are performed to expectations.

Responsibilities
- Lead the IT Asset Management (ITAM) area in IT. Full ownership for inventory counts and physical inventory activities.
- Manage pro-active inventory replacement schedules and manage hardware asset management, and software asset management.
- Ensure compliance with company and industry policies, procedures and requirements.
- Support monitoring of published Service Level Agreements for quality and delivery.
- Plan, prepare, establish and monitor Capital and O&M budgets by forecasting and monitoring annual spending.
- Promote effective relationships and cooperation between IT, OT and business units.
- Follow and guide team in proper use of all published policies, standards and procedures
- Ensure that teams adhere to all ITAM and ITSM processes including but not limited to: stock room management, asset tracking/maintenance, asset replenishment, Effective License Position (ELP), asset disposal, incident management, problem management, change management.
- Remain current with new technologies and techniques within the industry.
- Understand the NYPA systems environment and ensure all monitoring and inventory procedures exist in operational teams.
- Ensure material controls are in place and are precisely executed for all Information Technology Assets
- Drive initiatives to eliminate the need for physical inventory through consistently meeting inventory KPIs, and achieving all objectives as defined by financial auditors.
- Hold third parties accountable for meeting established goals and metrics related to ITAM such as inventory accuracy, validating their root cause and corrective actions to improve performance.
- Communicate the value of information technology (IT) security IT Asset Management (ITAM) throughout all levels of the organization stakeholders. Collaborate with stakeholders to establish the enterprise continuity of operations program, strategy, and mission assurance.

- Experience in Hardware asset management (HAM) and Software Asset Management (SAM)
- Experience in ITIL configuration management process and Configuration Management Database (CMDB)
- Experience in ITIL service request fulfilment process
- Ability to plan and execute procurement efforts of technologies, applications, services and other related tasks as applicable to competitive bidding procedures, RFP generation and bid evaluation, contract negotiations and vendor management.
- Demonstrate strong ethics, influence, negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication and the ability to effectively manage stress.
- Ability to manage confidentiality, integrity and availability risks appropriately – aligned with company goals, strategies, policies and requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral/presentation and written communications skills in both technical and non-technical language.
- Ability to effectively communicate with varying levels of management and staff in both the business and in IT.
Education, Experience and Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Information Management, Computer Science, or a related field required
- Minimum 5 years progressive managerial or program management experience in information systems. Significant, demonstrated experience in data center operations, network equipment and protocols and telecommunication technology.
- Minimum of 5 years experience with Information Technology Service Management
- Minimum of 5 years experience with IT Asset Management (ITAM)
- Experience in change management – driving improvements in team performance, culture and maturity.
- ITIL Foundations certification preferred.
- IAITAM Certified Asset Management Professional preferred
Physical Requirements
New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The target salary range for this position is: $$105,330 - $157,990. Salary offered will be determined based the successful candidates’ relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
