Summary
The Portfolio Manager will support the centralized management of multiple projects, programs, and sub-portfolios from intake, through feasibility, scoping and prioritization (pipeline management) to ensure they align with an organization’s objectives and strategic goals.
This role is vital in the evaluation, prioritization, and optimization of projects and programs based on key factors including return on investment, risk, resource availability, and balancing competing demands.
The Portfolio Manager will work closely with peers in the group and business stakeholders to provide senior leadership with a holistic view of all projects, programs and sub-portfolios to enable informed decision-making regarding project initiative, continuation, or termination.
Successful candidates will demonstrate intellectual curiosity backed by diligence, exceptional stakeholder management, and polished communication skills.
The ideal candidate may possess energy industry knowledge, and will lean in to complement gaps in knowledge through research, including using AI responsibly, to support the organization’s investments and objectives.

Responsibilities
- Oversees and leads comprehensive portfolio analysis, ensuring strategic insights are derived from the data.
- Ensures the delivery of high level, strategic reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Leads the team to carry out management strategy for the port for portfolio components, overseeing risk assessments and mitigation efforts.
- Strategically guides portfolio stakeholder engagement, focusing on high-level relationships and collaboration.
- Leads team members in implementing the overall portfolio component budget strategy, including allocations, forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
- Lead strategic planning processes for the portfolio.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strategic analytical skills for portfolio optimization

Education, Experience and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, engineering, or related field
- Minimum 6 years in portfolio management, finance, engineering, project delivery, or related field preferred
- CAPM or PMP is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Approximately 25% travel primarily within NY State.
- Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer and telephone
The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The estimated salary range for this position is: $123,000-$160,000. The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates’ relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
