Senior Accountant I

Summary

The Senior Accountant I will compile, interpret, and analyze financial data, maintain accounting records, prepare financial statements in accordance with updated regulations and accounting principles. 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, footnotes, and relative analyses for the financial reporting and the annual report.
  • Compile and prepare accounting analyses and statements. 
  • Utilize Projects, Fixed Assets and General Ledger modules of SAP Financials.
  • Conduct special reviews, prepare analysis, and provide recommendations to management to streamline practices and procedures.
  • Researches and implements solutions on new accounting (GAAP) and regulatory issues (FERC) and help formulate accounting position with respect to accounting and reporting for transactions.
  • Participate in special projects and lend guidance on accounting, financial processes, policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of US GAAP/GASB, general ledger structure and financial reporting with ability to learn FERC accounting.
  • Research and analyze complex transactions to determine impact on financial statements and forecasts and interpret financial results and present analysis.
  • Effective communication, verbal, and written skills are required.
  • Microsoft Office Suite and SAP financial module or other ERP platforms is required.

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in multiple disciplines of Accounting (Financial Reporting/ Internal Controls).
     

Physical Requirements

  • Limited travel (about 5%) required primarily to our generating facilities.
