Summary
The Accounts Payable team is tasked with overseeing NYPA's financial obligations. Their primary responsibilities encompass processing and validating invoices, executing vendor payments, maintaining precise financial records, ensuring adherence to policies and regulations, reconciling accounts, generating comprehensive reports, managing expenses, and supporting audit processes.
The Senior Accounts Payable Representative is responsible for administering and designing accounts payable processes, ensuring compliance across all activities. This includes invoice generation and verification, payment authorization and processing, ledger reconciliation, credit approval verification, adherence to payment terms, and conducting detailed reporting and analytics.
Candidates with hands on ERP experience, will be preferred, specifically SAP S4 HANA.

Responsibilities
- Ensure timely and accurate billing and invoicing for both customers and vendors.
- Review data from internal and external sources to NYPA for accuracy in customer billing invoicing and payment.
- Perform data analysis to create customer invoices as assigned.
- Analyze data and prepare reports, analyses, and statements for management review.
- Verify invoice charges for accuracy and compliance.
- Analyze power generation data for accuracy in customer group billing and reporting to relevant departments.
- Provide the Manager with a record of identified issues during each payment/billing cycle.
- Review bills/invoices from external partners for payment processing.
- Serve as a backup to Senior Billing Analyst in various tasks, such as system file uploads.
- Act as a liaison between the department and other business units or external vendors to address and resolve billing issues.
- Utilize applications outside of ERP system to support billing and invoicing processes.
- Assist with required testing of AP transactions during system patches.
- Process and post invoices from vendors for payment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, etc.) is required, ability to do pivot table and various formulas such as VLOOKUP, SUMIF and Index and Match
- Strong analytical skills are required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of organization internally and external customers.
- Ability to consistently meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to represent NYPA to all internal and external customers.
- Proactive in achieving goals and have the ability to work independently, with minor guidance from superiors.
- Familiarity with Accounts Payable / Billing processes and procedures.
- Ability to generate, analyze and present reports.
- Ability to manage large volumes of data entry is preferred.
- Ability to assist others in meeting deadlines, while still maintaining own workload.
Education, Experience and Certifications
- High school diploma.
- Minimum of 7 years of working experience payables, billing, accounting, or related finance field such as audit or analytics preferred.
- Experience working in a computerized environment is required.
- 3 years of working experience in the ERP system is preferred.
Physical Requirements
Limited travel (about 10%) required primarily to our generating facilities.

The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates’ relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
