NYPA is looking for a Business Analyst to help advance our digital platform and capability into the future. The Business Analyst will work with the Business Analyst Center of Excellence (BACOE) to design, develop and manage big business solutions that meet the strategic and technology direction of the organization. #LI-JP1
Responsibilities
- Works independently on multiple, high complexity projects to perform tasks below. Problems faced are difficult and sometimes complex.
- Create Business and Functional Requirements
- Create Business Process flow documents and Business process documents
- Create Technical Requirements document
- Create Requirements Traceability Matrix
- Create data mapping documents and Technical Interface specification for electronic files (e-files)
- Create test strategy, scenarios and scripts
- Engage in developing application support RACI and support handover documents.
- Collaborate with team in stakeholder communications
- Assist team with completion of provided Business Impact Assessment and Technology Impact Assessment forms
- Prepare weekly status report and meeting agendas, materials, and minutes for weekly meetings.
- Maintain industry/technical knowledge base
- Work collaboratively across multiple teams and work cross functionally, to prevent silos forming over time.
- Participate in triage and troubleshooting incoming issues as a member of team owning the system.
- Proactively review, analyze end user quality metrics such as front end and API error rates.
- Set up/maintain BA tools. Work closely with other groups in IT and vendors to ensure BA tools are available and working properly.
- Assess test cases and provide feedback to ensure 100% test coverage.
- Continuously improve and streamline BA procedures, and ensure they meet NYPA and industry standards.
- Support and develop other BA’s through mentorship and coaching.
- Collaborate with BACOE lead to develop Business Analysis frameworks, standards, governance and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge and experience in the Utility industry, especially in digital modernization.
- Extensive experience in developing detailed requirements – functional and technical.
- Knowledge of proper requirements specification and development, such as process/functional requirements definition methods, JAD/RAD sessions, use case development, process flow diagrams
- Working knowledge of Agile and Waterfall Methodologies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- A deep understanding of technical concepts, principles and terminology.
- Knowledge of data science concepts and experience gathering data requirements.
- Ability to work in a team environment with both employees and consultants is a must.
- Ability to communicate effectively across many different levels of technical and business teams.
- Ability to engage diplomatically with stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience with Agile and hybrid project methodologies.
- Superior presentation and negotiation skills.
- Proven management and organizational skills.
- Strong adaptability and capacity to work in fast-paced environments.
Education, Experience and Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. Computer Science, Information Systems preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of applicable experience in business analysis or related.
Preferred:
- Experience with Azure DevOps, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) products
- Utilities experience is preferred
- Certification in Business Analysis (like ECBA, CCBA, CBAP, AAC, PBA, etc.)
- Certification in Agile, DevOps
Physical Requirements
New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The target salary range for this position is: $103,500 - $126,500. Salary offered will be determined based the successful candidates’ relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
