Sr Manager, Vendor Contracts

Summary

Senior Manager, Vendor Contracts is responsible for initiating, developing, and managing a portfolio of contracts with the Authority’s vendors to support the Operations business unit:  

  • Develop purchase requisitions, Supports Procurement Contracts and Bid Administration efforts from an End User perspective.
  • Manage Supplier Contract portfolio - ensuring funds are available for anticipated work, continuity of service (working with SSM to extend contracts and/or add dollars based on Trustee limits, as well as transfer ongoing work to new contracts), gathers supporting documentation to assist with issuing contract change orders to modify T&Cs as needed.
  • Communicate and engage with Suppliers on department procedural changes, coordinating specific project trainings and assisting with contract questions or concerns in conjunction with SSM and Legal.
  • Document performance and service level agreements and monitors vendor/supplier performance against those agreements. #LI-VB1

Responsibilities

  • Develop and standardize contracting and project delivery processes and procedures, incorporating best practices for improved efficiency.
  • Strategize and oversee the development of new contracts for the Operations business unit, encompassing a range of services.
  • Coordinate procurement contracting initiatives with NYPA leadership, overseeing large-scale procurement activities and strategies.
  • Handle a high volume of Purchase Order and Change Order requests, optimizing staff distribution and ensuring quality control.
  • Lead in performance management and staff development, focusing on team goals, workload balancing, and succession planning.
  • Foster staff growth and skill development, setting objectives and monitoring team performance for continuous improvement.

  • Deep knowledge in contracts, construction management, project financing, guiding and leading teams.

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Public Administration.
  • Typically requires experience in time management, conflict resolution and negotiation.
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing employees / leading a team
  • Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) or Design Build Professional (DBIA) highly preferred.

Physical Requirements

The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The target salary range for this position is: $138,580.00 - $190,550.00. The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates’ relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
