Summary
The Vice President Strategy & Internal Consulting acts as a strategic catalyst within the organization—driving enterprise-wide transformation, shaping long-term strategy, and ensuring the successful execution of high-impact initiatives. They will work closely with the executive leadership team, and other key stakeholders to identify new opportunities and potential partnerships that drive growth and improve the company's capabilities. Provides pragmatic, data-driven recommendations that support decision making and supports the development of business strategies and actionable plans. The VP will work across all business units to ensure alignment and execution of cross-functional initiatives that support NYPA's growth and operational efficiency. The VP will lead high-performing teams, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. They will serve as a trusted advisor on emerging trends, technologies, and innovation opportunities that affect the enterprise, including supporting NYPA’s strategic priorities as we implement Governor Hochul’s directive to develop and construct at least 1 GW of advanced nuclear generation in Upstate New York
Responsibilities
- Develop pragmatic solutions to key strategic and operational issues, including developing and presenting recommendations to senior leadership - play a key role in informing and influencing senior management decision-making.
- Drive iterative development of long-term strategy and operating plan for the organization.
Support development of robust business plans; connecting them to core strategy. - Provide enterprise program management overlay to ensure execution of cross-functional strategic initiatives, including interdependencies between key business, technology and financial planning processes.
- Oversee agenda and materials development for senior executive audiences & meetings.
- Oversee implementation of multiple key initiatives, working closely with management responsible for executing change.
- Lead the execution of key enterprise initiatives by forming collaborative partnerships with colleagues across business units and functional areas.
- Provide thought leadership and strategic oversight in relevant areas such as digital transformation, robotics, etc.
- Manage governance process, ensuring regular communication and coordination of initiatives across executive management team.
- Lead and motivate high-performing, diverse teams and organizational resources in delivering results.
- Ensure training and development needs of the team are being met at all points in their career journey.

- Ability to develop a robust strategy & change management toolkit as well as a passion to effect change across the organization at the most senior levels.
- Outstanding critical thinking and quantitative abilities gained through leading large-scale high impact strategy assignments.
- Strong communication skills including experience in developing C-suite presentations.
- Collaborative work style and leadership presence with ability to effectively interact with and earn the trust of both peers and senior management across the organization.
- Project and process management skills, including proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Executive presence; self-starter with a keen sense of ownership and commitment to the work, and a passion to deliver results.
Education, Experience and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience.
- Management consulting experience, energy industry experience preferred.
- Minimum 3 or more years of experience managing employees / leading a team
- Broad understanding of the trends shaping the energy industry.
Physical Requirements
Approximately 20% travel primarily within NY State, some out of state travel

The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates’ relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
